RELEASE THE HOUNDS!!

In the early 1950's, a group of radio amateurs began getting together on 75 meters (3.975 MHz) each morning for a cup of joe and a chew of the ol' rag with friends across the Carolinas and the southeast. Some of the founding members, sadly, are no longer with us: Lee, W4NJJ, Sam, W4BRK, Guy, W4EC, Bob, W4OQQ, B. L., W4RJ, and Jack, W4AHH. Others of these pioneers are still on the "active roster": Sherwood, W4EWP, and Frank, W4MDA (now W4US).

Although the make-up of the group has changed over the years, and we have drifted up the band a couple of kc's, the tradition continues with this current crop of hams. The group meets on 3.977 MHz mornings from 6 until 8 and afternoons from 5 until 6. All times are Eastern and approximate. (Sometimes you can find a couple of die-hards around lunch time)

For years, prospective hams whose "Elmers" were Goats have worked toward their licensed or upgraded in eager anticipation of joining "the group".

Visitors are welcome, however a few rules must be observed:

1. There are NO rules other than those mandated by the FCC. (An ID every ten minutes is therefore encouraged.)
2. This is NOT a net! There is no "net control." In fact, there is no control of any kind.
3. Bring a thick skin and a FAST VOX!!! (although most of 'em still use PTT-so be prepared for doubles)
4. Signal reports are not to be trusted (especially from Icom rigs) and any technical advice is not to be relied upon.
