"Liaison" stations are those stations who typically bring traffic to or take traffic from one net to another net in an effort to keep the traffic "flowing" within the National Traffic System.  On the SCSSB net, we will typically have one liaison station volunteer to check-in to the Carolina's Net (CN) to see if their is any traffic for South Carolina.  The Carolina's Net is a CW traffic net which also meets at 7 pm local time on a frequency of 3.573 MHz.  Any traffic listed for SC on the CN is passed to the SCSSB liaison station who in turn takes it back to the SCSSB net for relay to a delivery point within the SC section.  Anyone can volunteer to be a liaison station since there are no "formal" schedules for this function.  If you are comfortable handling traffic on CW, give it a try!  The guys on CN are great operators, so you will be in good company!
